Caledonia 4 Park Bar 2

CALEDONIA brought the curtain down on the Welfare League season, with a victory over Park Bar in the Review Cup final at Links Park.

After an even opening period, Caledonia took the lead in 12 minutes. Dan Burnett played the ball forward and Mark Findlay sent a dipping volley over the keeper.

Two minutes later, Candy played in Cargill and he shot just over.
Park Bar threatened for the first time in 16 minutes when a 30 yard free-kick from Forbes flew just wide.

In 22 minutes, Myers had the ball in the net from a Candy cutback, but the ball had gone over the byeline.

In 28 minutes, Hector was booked for a foul on Middleton and from the free-kick, Park Bar equalised. James Reekie thumped the ball goalwards from almost on the halfway line and it soared into the top corner.

Caledonia regained the lead in 39 minutes. Billy Candy cut in from the right and smashed home a left foot shot.

Middleton had a shot saved, then at the other end, a tackle by Bell halted Cargill when a goal looked likely.

Park Bar made a lively start to the second half and might have been on level terms. After four minutes, a shot on the turn from Thomson forced a miraculous save from Jamieson when he dived to tip the ball for a corner.

Following the corner, Rennie crossed the ball into the area and an overhead-kick from Milne was cleared off the line by Burnett.

Park Bar were out of luck again in 55 minutes when a 30 yard drive from Milne hit the bar and went over.

Caledonia stretched their lead on the hour mark. Cargill cut along the byeline and drove the ball across goal and Bill Dryden touched it home on the back post.

The Montrose side made it 4-1 in 65 minutes. Candy played the ball forward and Grant MacPherson shot past the advancing keeper.

Kevin Rennie of Park Bar was booked for a lunge at Coull.

Myers shot wide on the near post from a corner, then Candy had a shot saved.

Park Bar kept plugging away and Middleton had a drive saved in 84 minutes, then a minute from time, Howie drove wide.

The referee found a remarkable amount of stoppage-time and with five minutes extra played, Park Bar scored a second goal. A shot from Milne was parried by Jamieson and Bryan Thomson headed home the rebound.
