Triathlon for DebRA

A MONTROSE woman is to take part in an Olympic distance triathlon, to raise money for the DebRA charity.
Lorraine Murray will be swimming 1500 metres, cycling 26 miles and running 6 miles in the London Triathlon on Sunday.
The money she raises will be given to DebRA, a charity which works on behalf of people in the UK who suffer from a genetic skin blistering condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).
Lorraine is friends with Dianne Forsyth, whose daughter Adana (10) was born with a most severe form of EB which causes her skin and internal linings to blister, bleed and peel at the slightest touch.
Lorraine can be sponsored at www.justgiving.com/lorrainemurray1. On her webpage, Lorraine says: "Adana goes through a great deal of pain every day and hours are spent weekly changing bandages, making up medicines and obviously it affects the rest of her family too. (The list is endless). She is my inspiration for doing this."
She said she believes £3,000 has been raised so far, which would leave her only £1,000 short of her target.
Lorraine said: "It was my new year's resolution, actually. I wanted to raise quite a lot of money as I don't think there is enough money being raised for the charity.
"I've always fancied doing a triathlon. I entered three years ago, but then I found out I was pregnant so I had to drop out and lost all the money.
"Then I had my second child last year, so this year, I decided to do it. It's just been getting the time really.
"I haven't practised all three together, but I should hopefully do it in under three hours. There will be thousands of people there, so it will be a great atmosphere."
